The first of our releases inspired by the landscapes & horizons of the former Venetian Republic.
The Candia EP takes its name from the Venetian name for Crete.

Track 1 - Canea (the Venetian name for Chania) is inspired by the first glimpses you would've seen arriving by boat, the mountains in the distance, the glittering turquoise waters. While also with a hint of sadness that all of this was not to last

Track 2 - Eleutherna: Crete has occupation stretching back deep into the Ancient past, and while the minoan palaces would be largely buried & unknown to the citizens of Venetian era Crete, there were many other sites that still bore the ruins of former civilisations.
Eleutherna today is a large series of multi-period ruins in the Cretan interior, located to the south east of Rethymno, while its population had dwindled through late antiquity and into medieval times many of its ruins would've still been visible into the Venetian era, and these along with its natural cave shelters doubtless played host to travellers, rebels, or herders, sitting around the fire or sleeping bellow the ruins that bore witness to over a thousand years of history.
